Joe Perry Found Out Tyler Joined Idol from the Internet

As Whitesnake so eloquently stated, "Here [We] Go Again." Joe Perry and Steven Tyler don't seem to be on the same page. Shit, they may be on the same page, but they are certainly reading different books.

Joe Perry confronted Tyler outside the MGM Grand concert after hearing about the rumors on the internet regarding Steven's supposed acceptance of the vacant American Idol judge job. But Tyler informed the guitarist that he had been told not to discuss the subject.

Joe Perry added: “I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn’t tell me about this?” the guitarist said. “Why so secretive? We’re told it’s a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We’d like to plan our lives, ya know?”

Perry has a valid point here and I side with him. These are your band mates, your family, your buds. You tell them everything because their livelihood depends on you showing up and doing your job. They have a right to know that you have taken another job before the public finds out. As soon as that deal was inked, Tyler should have told Perry and the rest of Aerosmith.

Tyler has been acting really weird lately and this is just another incident in a long line of strange occurrences in the Aerosmith camp (Brand Tyler (link), entering rehab (link), auditioning for Led Zeppelin (link), and singing in Denny's (link)). If you want to read more about this situation, the Boston Herald has more information. In related news, here is our picture of what the American Idol judging panel will look like next season.
