Stone Temple Pilots Title New Record

I had a dream three weeks ago I forgot to share with you all. I was running down the streets of Los Angeles. I was being chased by Mothra and everyone around me was Chinese...not Japanese from the Godzilla movies. I am then abruptly pulled into a side alley before Mothra shoots silk out of her mouth. The silk encapsulates about 15 Chinese people and I look at my savior. It was none other than Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots.

He brings me into a studio and says, I know who you are and you deserve a sneak peek at our new record. We don't have a title nor tracklistings yet, but just take a listen. I did and guess what? It sounded just like Purple or Core.

You may be asking yourself, what happened next? I woke up with an erection of course. Then I went on the STP website and found this news:

STP's first new album in nine years will be released on May 25 via Atlantic Records. The self-titled effort features the following track listing:

01. Between The Lines
02. Take A Load Off
03. Huckleberry Crumble
04. Hickory Dichotomy
05. Dare If You Dare
06. Cinnamon
07. Hazy Daze
08. Bagman
09. Peacoat
10. Fast As I Can
11. First Kiss On Mars
12. Maver

Then I found this bit from a  Pulse of Radio reporter who said this about the record "a natural, melodic progression for STP, with BEATLES-esque harmonies, a lot of in-your-face, hard-rocking tracks, plenty of guitar solos and some astounding singing from Weiland."

That kind of sounds like old STP for me. Maybe not Core old, but certainly No. 4 era STP. Shangra-La-Dee-Da sucked. I really didn't like the direction they took on that record. It almost seemed like they sold out on that record. It wasn't the STP I knew. I wanted the next record after No. 4, which is fantastic.

Maybe the self-titled album can be the rightful heir to No. 4.

Now here is Dean DeLeo destroying Mothra!
