U2 Top Grossing Tour of 2009

U2 wrapped up the Top Grossing tour in 2009 for North America. What is significant about this is they played about half as many shows as the second place finisher (Bruce Springsteen).

It is also in a time of recession and concerts over all didn't break the 100 million mark. U2 raked in around 123 million in concert revenue for their 20 shows in stadiums across North America. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played about 54 concerts and made 94.5 million.

That is a big disparity, but Bruce was playing to mostly filled arenas and U2 were playing to always full stadiums. The highest price of a Bruce ticket was around 90 bucks, while the highest U2 ticket was around 250.00 bucks.

With U2 coming back to North America with an expanded stadium lineup, look for U2 to be the top grossing act of 2010 too. You can find the full list of the Top 50 acts here.
