Alice in Chains Nominated for Grammy
ALICE IN CHAINS have
earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Hard Performance” for “Check My Brain,” the
No. 1 hit single from the band’s new album
BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE.
Fueled by the chart-topping track, which hit No. 1 on the Modern, Active and
Rock formats and was hailed by Spin magazine as
“one
of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains' history,”
the album entered Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 5, with
first-week sales exceeding 126,000 copies.
We have spoken at length that the Grammy nominations have given themselves ZERO credibility. When you give artists like Milli Vanilli a Grammy Award, you pretty much shoot yourself in the credible dick. I can tell you what the Grammy's actually are....a marketing tool. It is the same thing with the Oscars. The no name movie or artist gets the nod and then people want to hear/see why it has been deemed so good.
How many times have you been in Best Buy looking for a DVD to buy and seen "Nominated for 1,000 Oscars." You casually think, it has got to be good. Then you are watching The Reader and only for Kate Winslett's breasts and slightly saggy ass. By the end of the movie, you can't really see why it has been nominated 1,000 times because her ass was OK and her breasts were spectacular. But nothing I would really write home about.
Well the Grammys are the same way, but I am happy for Alice in Chains. It is a great record, but I don't really think Check My Brain is the best song on the album. But whatever gets kids to listen to something other than Limp Bizkit or Nickelback is fine with me.
