The Product's Break the Silence EP Review

This past weekend was Halloween. It is one of my favorite, but most stressful "holidays." It is a chance for me to publicly dress as a woman instead of privately dressing like a woman. But this year I decided my costume was going to be different. I wanted to play on the new Vampire craze (True Blood, Twilight, Catholicism). I decided to go as Count Vagula, a cunt sucking Vampire who needs "Pussy Blood" as sustenance. I decided to create a new race of Vampire called Vagires.

So I dressed as a normal Count Dracula, but wore a silver vagina around my neck and I decided that The Product's album Break the Silence was going to be the soundtrack for the evening. They really didn't have any inherit connection to my disgusting outfit or mindset, but I needed to do their review.

I arrive at the bar with my iPod cranked high and my Count Vagula alter-ego sniffing for bleeding vaginas so I could sustain my existence. The Product's album begins with the title track Break the Silence. A powerful pop infused anthem causing me to break character. Vampires slink around, but with The Product's Break the Silence I found myself doing a lot of roof raising (what) and jumping around. Maybe that is what Vagires do!

The song Break the Silence combines growling, angst infused vocals with powerful rock guitar riffs. The choruses are catchy, hook laden harmonies layered on top of one another leading to big sing alongs.

The EP rolls into the next song Stitches which starts out with the screaming of the phrase "Suck it." "Oh I plan to, The Product," I thought as I weaved in and out of the crowd searching for my first victim. Most songs on Break the Silence are highlighted by strong vocals, well produced power guitar, and shuffling drum/bass beats. All this combines to form a perfect, upbeat, anger fueled fist pumping.

The Product has great radio friendly rock anthems and soft power ballads. In the Blink of an Eye is a wonderful example of the latter. I can see that underage girl who snuck into the bar tonight as the slutty witch drawing spirals on her notebook thinking about losing her virginity to me later. Yup, her virginity is gone in the blink of an eye and she won't know what happened since I suffer from premature ejaculation.

In the Blink of an Eye really showcases the band's ability to write long sustaining teen anthems. It is the perfect ballad for today's teenager about the ephemeral nature of the world that surrounds all of us. You know things like beer, virginity, and menstruation. At least, that is what I took from the song.

The Product is promising up and coming band with the songs to take radio by storm. They had the fist pumping, moshing songs to please the testosterone soaked teens and the ballads to appeal to the sappy teen girls.

If you buy the album from iTunes, you can get an acoustic performance of Nightmare. This is highly recommended. It showcases the vocal ability of B.J. Perry and the haunting guitar playing of either B.J. or the other guitar player Jerome Reilly. The inclusion of the piano adds depth to the song which is lost on the "plugged" in version.

I realized after writing the review I had no quotes, the band could use. The whole thing is completely disgusting and absolutely true. So I decided to give the band a quote they can use to put on their MySpace site and Press kit.

The Product is one of those rare industry bands that can appeal to a wide audience. With powerful hooks, memorable song writing, and superb guitar work, The Product will be a potential force on the radio for years to come. If I were a chick, I would have sex with this band on my period. I hope they enjoy that!
