Crue Fest 2 2009 Review and Setlist from Seattle, Washington 7.27.2009

This is a review sent into us by a fan who attended the Seattle, Washington Crue Fest 2 show. We reviewed the Crue Fest 2 in Camden, which you can find here. We thought that the Crue was outplayed and outperformed by Godsmack. That seemed to be the general sentiment of everyone who attended the show, which you can see in the comment section. But I wasn't sure if that was opening night jitters or just problems that usually come with opening night.

Reader Scott sent in this review of his experience from Seattle. His review seems to give weight to our review. Check it out and you will find the Crue Fest setlist below:

"Now it is Seattle's turn. I was at the White River amphitheater last night. It was the night of my 43rd birthday and The Crue came to help me party. I have seen Crue twice in the 80's and always remembered what a great rock and roll party it was. My wife had never seen them and has waited for years for the show. She just read the Heroin Diaries and was in a true concert mood.
We arrived at the show a little late and miss [Theory of a ] Dead Man but could hear them from the parking lot as we drank some pre concert Jesus juice. They sounded good for what they are. Say what you want about them. They are a fun band that appeal to a wide range. And they sell records.

We made our way into the show and I was very surprised at all the empty seats I was seeing. But I guess we are in hard times and money is tight. On for my beer before Godsmack. WoW, $9.00 FOR A BEER!! Anyway, GODSMACK hits the stage and KICKED ASS. From first note to the final cord I was very impressed. I have seen over 125 shows in my life and these guys had me from the start. The drummer who I haven't any idea his name even beat the hell out of the skins. The band was tight and into it. If I have one complaint it was the volume wasn't loud enough. That's something that goes with being a opening band I know. But, Godsmack wasn't a true opening band as it was. Maybe the Crue thought that would help them out. Nope.

Sadly, CRUE SUCKED. I can't believe I am saying it but it is true. It wasn't just the Godsmack being that good. Crue sucked. The guitar solo was more like a 13 year old learning to play. No skill at all just plain sad. Even the lights were aimed badly. They used bright clear lights like you see used to shine on the crowd sometimes at other shows. Except they used them all show long. Maybe from the pit or the flat in front of the stage it was ok. But for most of the seats and the Grass area it was so bright you couldn't see anything on stage. Not even Tommy's ego. My guess is that Motley Crue thought they could go without rehearsing much if any at all for this tour. They figure they can just stumble through the tour, collect a boat of cash and do it again next year. Ummmm, Don't think so Vince. They aren't even gonna get respect from these two. I can say I am happy to have gone to GODSMACK FEST 2009. They did make me a fan for sure. That's what happens when you have talent, passion and give a crap about your fans I guess."

I was in the pit, and it was a great show. Killer opening, and it rocked all the way through. Mick hasn't put together a good guitar solo for years. Deal with it. It's too bad Tommy didn't do a drum solo instead. Are you sure you were at the right show - they did Primal Scream instead of Live Wire that night. I will say that the White River Amphitheater in Auburn isn't the greatest place to see a concert. You have to be down below! I've seen every Crue show in Washington since the mid-eighties except for last year's Cruefest, and I'd go again.

It was not opening night jitters. I just went to Cruefest 2 in Saratoga Springs on 9-1-2009. Without a doubt GODSMACK is the band. At least 1/4 of the crowd was gone before the Crue was half over. I was one of them. I can not believethat the Crue would want to follow Godsmack. I understands ego and we all know that the Crue has one of the biggest in music history but come on. It is not 1988. You can dance like you did back in the day but really only the grey hairs will give a crap. Crue you have come and you have gone, please just step aside and let the true metal kings of modern metal show you how it is done.
