Carly Smithson, a finalist on last year’s installment of American Idol, has formed a new band with the original members of Evanescence. Guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray — as well as bassist Marty O’Brien will be joining Smithson in what the musicians have dubbed The Fallen.

I am guessing Ben probably went to one of the American Idol concerts and saw this performance:

Then he probably thought, "Man she looks like Amy Lee and sounds worse than her. Let me mold her into something. My career after the loss of Amy Lee has been writing for American Idols (Daughtry, Clarkson), mine as well try to reinvigorate my dead career with Carly Smithson, someone who was kicked off so early Craig Wettner doesn't remember who the hell she is."
