A Knee-Jerk Reaction to AC/DC's "Rock N' Roll Train"

PhotobucketAC/DC may be the only band universally applauded for sounding exactly like we expect on every album they release. I would normally protest if another band recycled the same tired open chord riffs and bass line on album after album, but AC/DC is the exception. Until now.

"Rock N' Roll Train" sounds like AC/DC should, but something just isn't right. Now AC/DC is trying to sound like AC/DC and it feels forced. I wasn't expecting the song to sound as razor sharp as "TNT" or "Shot Down In Flames," but the hook is missing. They sound like their own imitators.

In a panic, I asked myself, "What Would Bon Do?" Hmm...Bon would write sleazier lyrics and wear this gaudy Hawaiian shirt. No, wait. Bon would choke on his own vomit in a car and let some Johnny Come Lately take the glory on Back In Black.

I wouldn't have bought the album anyway, since Back In Black is still the newest AC/DC album I own. Angus and the lads have been on a downward spiral since The Razor's Edge which contained such neo-classics as "Thunderstruck," "Money Talks" and "Mistress for Christmas."

Will "Rock N' Roll Train" be on the radio in two years? Me thinks no. Can you remember the last time "Stiff Upper lip" graced the airwaves? Now I yearn for the days of that other long forgotten post-zenith AC/DC song. "Ballbreaker!"
